Gaat het eindelijk gebeuren? KRS-ONE in 013? Na vele pogingen en bijna bevestigde shows komt de voormalige leider van Boogie Down Productions naar Europa. KRS-ONE staat bekend om zijn furieuze politieke statements met een sociaal bewuste ondertoon, geuit in venijnige raps. Daarom heeft hij de bijnaam The Teacher. Iets dat hem dwars zat waardoor het Boogie Down Productions album ‘Sex and Violence’ een hardere, vuigere aanpak kreeg, zowel tekstueel als qua tempo. In 1993 verscheen zijn eerste soloalbum, ‘Return of the Boom Bap’, om zich vanaf het midden van de jaren negentig met een reeks soloalbums definitief als belangrijkste hiphopartiest te vestigen. Vorig jaar verscheen op zijn eigen label Grit Records ‘Keep Right’. Zijn dertiende meesterzet staat vol met filosofische hoogstandjes, soms opinievormend, soms predikend maar altijd ontzettend doeltreffend. Phi-Life Cypher.
